Special thanks to Community Board 8's Economic Development Committee Chair, Sergio Villaverde, for arranging for Connie Moran, Bronx Borough Commissioner for the Department of Transportation, to attend tonight's meeting (both pictured above). Commissioner Moran addressed concerns the merchants have about lighting on Broadway and spoke of other programs the DOT offers that may be of interest to the new merchant group. Commissioner Moran announced that upon the request of the merchants and the Community Board, DOT will conduct a lighting survey of Broadway. The meeting was also attended by CB 8 members Julie Reyes and Sergio Marquez. We again appreciate the efforts of our Marble Hill Merchant Organizer Jennifer Wynns for promoting the meetings. Tracy Shelton led the rest of the meeting with a discussion about the merchant survey and how those results could be used to formulate a mission statement for the Association and also about our upcoming Local Resident Discount program, which is scheduled to be launched on November 18th.
