KRVC's October 29th Job and Volunteer Fair held at the Riverdale Neighborhood House saw a great turnout of job seekers and prospective volunteers! People brought their resumes to meet with a wide range of representatives and community members were pleased to find out about many local, rewarding volunteer opportunities. The following businesses and organizations participated in the Fair and had many excellent full time and part time jobs available: The Jewish Board; Premier Residences of Yonkers - Senior Living; RiverSpring Health; US Census Bureau; Green Mountain Energy; Fresh Direct; Kids in the Game; Montefiore - Health Professionals Opportunity Grants; New York Public Library; ReServe; Argus Community, Inc; NYC and Vicinity District Council of Carpenters. There were some very interesting volunteer positions available at iMentor, Stronger Life, Inc and Kingsbridge Heights Community Center.
KRVC was very glad to welcome a representative from Adult Career and Continuing Education Services - Vocational Rehabilitation, an agency that provides services to assist eligibile individuals with disabilities in obtaining employment. Ms. Dais-Lewis was busy during the event, helping to connect people to valuable resources. Additionally, KRVC was delighted to have attending the Fair, an Employment Attorney from Wilson, Elser, Moskowitz, Edelman & Dicker LLP to answer questions about applicant rights, employer obligations and employee rights.
