Soprano Ilana Davidson and guitarist Daniel Lippel treated us to a gorgeous evening of classical music. Ilana is a Bronx resident and a very accomplished musician. Recent highlights include Carnegie Hall performances of Mona Lisa (Von Schillings), Der Diktator (Krenek) and Songs From Jewish Folk Poetry (Shostakovich) with the American Symphony Orchestra and TON, a debut with the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra as Euridice in Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice, Mahler Symphony No. 4 with Keith Lockhart at the Brevard Music Festival, the Anchorage Symphony, Bellingham Music Festival, Mozart Requiem and Haydn’s Creation, Mozart Requiem with the Bellingham Music Festival, and chamber music festivals in the United States and Canada.
Guitarist Daniel Lippel, called an “exciting soloist” (New York Times), “precise and sensitive” (Boston Globe), and a “formidable guitarist” (Chicago Magazine), enjoys a diverse career ranging through solo and chamber performances and recordings to collaborations in diverse contexts. Highlights of his recent solo performances include the Le Poisson Rouge (New York), National University of Colombia in Bogota, New York Classical Guitar Society’s Salon Series, Sinus Ton Festival in Germany, University of Texas at San Antonio, Lawrence University (Wisconsin), and the Cleveland International Guitar Festival (CIM).
