Club KRVC had another great night with vocalist Kat Vokes and pianist Nitzan Gavrieli. Kat and Nitzan are both connected to our community as teachers at the Riverdale Music Studio.
Singer and composer Kat Vokes grew up in Chicago, studying piano from an early age. She discovered her passion for singing at 12, when she attended Interlochen Arts Camp, where she spent five consecutive summers. In 2008, she began her studies at the prestigious Oberlin Conservatory of Music, intensively studying vocal technique under the direction of Marlene Rosen and Timothy LeFebvre. She graduated from Oberlin’s double degree program with a B.A in comparative literature and a B.M in vocal performance.
Since then, Kat has relocated to New York City, where she has been performing with some of the biggest names in contemporary Jazz, such as Pablo Menares, Edward Perez, Felix Lecaros, Nitzan Gavrieli and Uri Gurvich. Kat has sung in festivals across the United States and Europe, including SongFest, Vancouver Early Music, and MSM Summer Voice Festival.
