Sinfonietta of Riverdale 10th Anniversary Season

The Sinfonietta of Riverdale performs a full concert of music by Gustav Mahler and Pulitzer Prize-winning American composer, Aaron Jay Kernis. With guest artist Ilana Davidson, soprano. The text for the music of Kernis is drawn the Book of Psalms, the 12th century abbess Hildegard von Bingen, the Japanese Zen master Ryokan, and the renowned Sufi poet Rumi. These varied literary sources from cultures that embrace East and West share a common spirituality communicated with deep feeling and orchestral finesse. The text for Mahler’s music is derived from the collection The Youth’s Magic Horn and represents a child’s vision of paradise. Please join us for a celebratory pre-concert reception where you can mingle with the artists “backstage” and help the Sinfonietta commemorate its 10th Anniversary!
