Promo Events

KRVC holds “Promo Events” in advance of our larger events.  KRVC holds the Promos inside and in front of sponsoring businesses.  Through these promos, KRVC offers a “sneak preview” of the upcoming festival or Movie Night.  KRVC brings performers to the promo, invites our sponsors, the media and elected officials.  During the promo events, KRVC distributes promotional material to community members who pass by.  KRVC sets up eye-catching tables and tents for these promo events with great visuals. To date, KRVC has organized several promo events. The first one was held in the fall 2011 at Elisa Contemporary Art to promote our Fall Festival of the Arts.  This promo event featured an art preview by Lisa Cooper, a music preview by Eric Alexander, a clown and band members who were appearing at the larger festival. It was covered by BronxNet and News 12. KRVC held three promo events in 2012.  In April, we promoted our Johnson Avenue Block Festival in front of Starbucks.  The event featured an art preview by Lisa Cooper of Elisa Contemporary Art and also Street Performer Adam Auslander.  It was covered by BronxNet and attended by sponsors from Weichert Realtors, House & Home and Country Bank. In June, as one of the endorsing organizations of Riverfest, KRVC did a promo event in front of Starbucks to showcase the greenway plans, provide a sneak preview of Riverfest and distribute event flyers. In November, we promoted our upcoming Riverdale Holiday Festival in front of Yo Burger, which featured guitarist Steve Oates and clown Dawn Jones. This promo event featured a festive tent, was covered by BronxNet and attended by Assemblyman Dinowitz. So far in 2013, KRVC has held many promo events with plans to hold more - this was the first year we promoted our movie nights with promo events.  In May, we held a promo event to promote our Riverdale Spring Festival in front of Addeo’s Pizza.  This event featured Super Mario, Street Performer Adam Auslander and a music preview.  The event was covered by News 12 and attended by Assemblyman Dinowitz and several event sponsors. In July, KRVC held our first Movie Night promo event in front of Addeo’s (photo above).  State Senator Jeff Klein was acknowledged at this event for his support of the Movies in the Park series. The event featured live music by guitarist,  Jostein Gulbrandsen, our new "Blocks" exhibit and Penguin Visuals as we promoted the movie Mr. Popper's Penguins and Jostein's pre-movie performance . In August, KRVC held another Movie Night Promo in front of Starbucks on Johnson Avenue.  Under a tent with balloons, we featured our "BLOCKS" exhibit, UP! Character visuals and music by Alma and Rale Micic, who are scheduled to perform prior to the movie on September 7th.  In September, we held a promo event for our Block Festival in front of Yo Burger.  News 12 covered the promo, which featured street performer Dawn Jones and live music by NY Brogue and which was attended by Assemblyman Jeff Dinowitz.
